While plastic has many valuable uses, the world has become addicted to single-use plastic products — with environmental, social, economic and health consequences. That’s where the Biosphere Plastic Additive comes in.

Around the world, one million plastic bottles are purchased every minute, while up to five trillion plastic bags are used worldwide every year. In total, half of all plastic produced is designed for single-use purposes – used just once and then thrown away.

Although plastics have made our lives easier, disposing of them has become a global problem. But, Biosphere Plastics are changing that, they are working with small manufacturers and Fortune 500 companies alike across a range of industries to provide custom biodegradability solutions.

With the BioSphere plastic additive, plastic manufacturers can make their plastic products biodegradable. The additive only makes up about 1% of the finished product and requires minimal changes to the manufacturing process.

What exactly is the Biosphere additive?

BioSphere additive is a unique product that has been specifically designed to significantly accelerate the speed of biodegradation of plastics in landfill.

Independent testing shows it works in anaerobic (without oxygen) and aerobic (with oxygen) environments, which means biodegradation will take place equally well in landfill, compost and marine environments.

When utilised to its full capacity, the BioSphere additive creates a perfect circle of renewable energy.

BioSphere has shared a simple explanation video to help digest and understand the process.
